Special Issue of Interventions: Publication, Circulation and the Vernacular

As the first of two publications resulting from our conference “Loose Tongues: World Literature and the Vernacular” in August 2017 in Stockholm, this special issue looks at the fate of the vernacular in discrete contexts of circulation and publication.

It forms part of an ongoing attempt to elaborate the vernacular as a relational and heuristic term that enables dialogues across entrenched linguistic, cultural and theoretical boundaries. Hence the issue’s combination of South African, North American, Indian, Swedish, Russian, Mozambican and Latin American perspectives.
